Get Started

Let’s find the right path forward for your young adult.

We begin with a simple conversation to understand your goals and determine the best program fit.

A Supportive First Step

Choosing the right program is an important decision, and we’re here to make that process as comfortable and straightforward as possible.

At Coastal Connections, we take the time to learn about each individual—because every young adult has unique strengths, goals, and needs.

Our goal is to guide you toward the program that will provide the most meaningful support and growth.

Who Should Get Started

This is a great first step if you are:

  • A parent or caregiver exploring support options

  • Looking for help building independence and life skills

  • Interested in social development and community engagement

  • Unsure which program (S.H.I.N.E., W.A.V.E., or T.H.R.I.V.E.) is the best fit

  • Exploring Self-Determination Program (SDP) or private pay options

Our Simple Process

Step 1:
Initial Consultation

We start with a conversation to learn about your young adult’s goals, strengths, and areas of support.

Step 2:
Participant Introduction

When appropriate, we schedule a time to meet the participant and ensure the program feels like a comfortable fit.

Step 3:
Program Recommendation

Based on what we learn, we recommend the program that best supports your young adult’s development.

Step 4:
Enrollment & Scheduling

Once everything feels aligned, we move forward with enrollment and scheduling.

Not Sure Which Program Is Right?

That’s completely okay—many families aren’t sure where to start.

We’ll help guide you based on your young adult’s needs:

  • S.H.I.N.E. → One-on-one support for independence and life skills

  • W.A.V.E. → Small group outings for real-world experience

  • T.H.R.I.V.E. → Structured social skills and relationship-building

Our goal is to make sure your young adult is placed where they will feel comfortable, supported, and able to grow.

Funding & Payment Options

Coastal Connections works with families using a variety of funding options.

Options:

  • Self-Determination Program (SDP) through the Regional Center

  • Private pay options

If you’re unsure about funding, we’re happy to talk through your situation and help you understand what may be available.
